We are looking for a sourcing professional who thrives at the intersection of commercial strategy and flawless operational execution. Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, vessel operators, and customers, you will manage everything from strategic sourcing and delivery execution to supplier performance tracking.
Marine Fuels Sourcing Trader Key Responsibilities
- Supply Coordination: Supervise and coordinate bunker supply for internal and external clients, seamlessly supporting procurement, nomination, and delivery processes.
- Operational Liaison: Partner closely with vessel operators, port authorities, local agents, suppliers, and surveyors to ensure 100% smooth and compliant bunker operations.
- Execution Oversight: Oversee the purchasing of marine fuels and cross-regional delivery execution, including fuel quality testing and independent surveyor arrangements.
- Team Leadership & Training: Train team members and ensure the highest level of communication across regions, teams, customers, and key commercial stakeholders.
- Performance Metrics & Disputes: Track regional performance metrics and consumption efficiency, while leading the swift resolution of fuel supply claims or disputes.
- Market Intelligence: Gather proactive market intelligence and track supplier performance to directly support trading decisions and strategic sourcing.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (a Diploma in Maritime Studies is highly preferred).
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of related work experience in marine fuels or bunkering.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:
- 6+ years of dedicated bunker trading or marine fuel procurement experience, including complex commercial negotiation.
- Global Mindset: Ability to maintain a global regional overview while providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior team members.
- Resilience & Agility: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the confidence to make quick, data-driven decisions under pressure.
- Multitasking Mastery: Highly adaptable, challenge-driven, and capable of managing multiple deals, stakeholders, and tight timelines simultaneously.
