Bunker Holding has elevated Mikkel Kannegaard to COO to lead a unified operational structure bridging supply, trading, and new fuels. The move follows a successful year of restructuring that aligned the Group’s global physical operations with its commercial priorities.
Middelfart, Denmark | May 13, 2026 – Bunker Holding A/S, the global leader in marine fuel supply, has officially appointed Mikkel Kannegaard as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The appointment, effective immediately, formalizes a rapid and successful restructuring of the Group’s global supply chain to meet the demands of an evolving maritime energy market.
Since joining as Head of Global Supply in August 2025, Kannegaard has spearheaded the transition to a leaner, more integrated model. Under his leadership, the Group has consolidated its physical operations, sourcing entities, and its specialized New Fuels Team under a single operational umbrella.
Strategic Alignment: Supply Meets Commerce
A core pillar of Kannegaard’s mandate has been the dissolution of silos between supply and sales. By working in close partnership with Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Anders Grønborg, Kannegaard has ensured that the Group’s global expertise is balanced with the local agility required to serve clients in over 1,600 ports.
“Mikkel has made a strong impression since joining. He has brought operational strength and a clear sense of direction to an important area of our business. His promotion to COO reflects both his contribution so far and the confidence we have in him going forward,” said Peder Møller, Group CEO of Bunker Holding.
Focusing on the “New Fuels” Future
The integration of the New Fuels Team (also known as the Green Center of Excellence) into the COO’s core portfolio is a significant signal to the industry. As the shipping sector shifts toward methanol, ammonia, and LNG, Kannegaard’s role will be to ensure that Bunker Holding’s supply infrastructure is ready to deliver these alternatives with the same reliability as traditional fuels.
A Culture of Execution
Reflecting on his appointment, Mikkel Kannegaard emphasized the collaborative effort behind the Group’s transformation:
“I am proud and grateful to take on the role of COO. Since joining, I have been met with a strong culture and a clear ambition to move the business forward together. I would like to thank the leadership team for the trust they have placed in me. And I especially want to recognise the teams across the Group for their dedication and collaboration that have made the progress so far possible. I look forward to building on the momentum we have created together.“
