The Opportunity: Bunker Account Manager – Singapore
Shell is seeking an experienced commercial professional capable of driving bunker sales growth and managing strategic customer relationships across East Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
Working closely with Shell’s Global Trading Team, the successful candidate will support the company’s regional marine fuels business while contributing to strategic trading initiatives and integrated commercial performance optimization.
This role offers direct exposure to Fuel Oil, Distillates, and Low Carbon Fuels trading activities, positioning the successful applicant at the center of evolving global marine fuel markets.
The position requires a commercially agile individual who can balance customer management, trading collaboration, operational coordination, and market intelligence within a fast-moving international bunker environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Relationship Management: Develop and manage strategic customer relationships across East Asia, Middle East, and South African ports to drive both spot and term bunker sales, including ex-wharf and delivered business. The successful candidate will also maintain and expand Shell’s term customer portfolio by leveraging existing global customer relationships and identifying long-term commercial opportunities.
- Trading & Commercial Collaboration: Work closely with Shell’s Trading team, Team Lead, Trading Operations, and Downstream South Africa supply teams to execute the highest-value sales channels and optimize commercial performance. The role involves supporting integrated trading strategies while ensuring alignment between commercial objectives and regional supply capabilities.
- Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of trading, bunker barge, and sales strategies across assigned ports and regional markets. This includes identifying commercial growth opportunities, supporting regional expansion plans, and enhancing Shell’s competitive positioning within the marine fuels sector.
- Market Analysis & Intelligence: Monitor regional bunker fuel supply and demand dynamics while tracking vessel movements and shipping patterns to support sales forecasting and strategic planning. The role requires maintaining a strong understanding of evolving market conditions, customer requirements, and operational developments affecting the bunker industry.
- Integrated PnL Optimization: Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Trading teams to optimize integrated profit and loss performance across Shell’s marine fuels value chain. The successful applicant will be expected to support commercially sound decisions that maximize overall business value from an end-to-end perspective.
- Claims & Customer Support: Manage commercial claims and customer complaints, ensuring prompt resolution and high service standards.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Candidates should possess strong sales and account management capabilities, ideally with direct experience in bunker operations, marine fuels sales, or trading environments.
- Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage dedicated customer portfolios, and coordinate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Supply, and Distribution functions.
- Previous exposure to bunker delivery operations, trading optionality, commercial strategy development, and marine fuel documentation processes will be highly advantageous.
- Experience leading new business initiatives or regional commercial projects is also considered beneficial.
- For certain regional markets, bilingual language capabilities may be required.
