The Role: LNG Bunker Trader Europe
As LNG Bunker Trader Europe, you will be operating within a specialized team of 15 traders and operators, you will take the lead on commercial development and physical LNG trading across the European continent. This role is highly cross-functional, sitting at the intersection of business development, complex structuring, and risk management. You will hold direct responsibility for P&L performance while navigating a rapidly maturing regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Origination: Proactively develop and manage a portfolio of international shipowners, charterers, and brokers, focusing on spot and short-term LNG sales (up to 12 months).
- Trading & Structuring: Execute back-to-back physical trades, manage pricing risks, and tailor fuel solutions that include Bio-LNG to support client sustainability targets.
- Operational Integration: Collaborate with the operations team to optimize the deployment of LNGBVs and terminal slots, ensuring seamless “last-mile” delivery.
- Tender Management: Lead the response to high-value European tenders, demonstrating TotalEnergies’ competitive edge in supply security and technical expertise.
- Governance & HSE: Maintain strict adherence to compliance protocols, internal risk delegations, and the highest Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
Candidate Profile
- Industry Expertise: A proven track record in bunker trading, physical LNG, or energy commodities, with a deep understanding of the maritime supply chain.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with evolving maritime frameworks (FuelEU, IMO 2023/2024) and their impact on fuel spreads and demand.
- Analytical Rigor: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to structure complex commercial agreements in a volatile pricing environment.
- Certifications: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, CISI certification (Derivatives & UK Financial Regulation) is mandatory for this role.
- Soft Skills: An agile, international mindset with the ability to collaborate across diverse cultures and multi-office environments.
