The Role: Senior LNG Trader
Based in Copenhagen, you will be at the forefront of Maersk’s energy transition. This is a high-impact role responsible for the global supply of both fossil and Bio-LNG for the company’s new wave of dual-fuel container vessels, the first of which enter operation in Q2 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Sourcing: Secure physical LNG and Bio-LNG supplies to power a growing fleet of dual-fuel container ships across global trade lanes.
- Market Optimization: Develop and execute sophisticated trading and hedging strategies to manage financial exposure and market volatility.
- Regulatory Leadership: Ensure total alignment with evolving environmental mandates (IMO, EU ETS, FuelEU), optimizing positions to maximize carbon efficiency.
- Relationship Management: Manage high-stakes relationships with global energy majors and producers, overseeing complex contract negotiations and execution.
- Strategic Expansion: Play a leading role in the desk’s expansion as it scales to handle significantly increased volumes and new sustainable fuel products.
Candidate Profile
- Deep Market Expertise: Proven experience in physical LNG trading, including a strong grasp of global supply-demand dynamics and pricing mechanisms.
- Analytical Rigor: Expert-level knowledge of hedging instruments and financial risk management within the energy sector.
