The Role: Manager, Global Fuel Purchasing
Based in Hamburg at the prestigious Ballindamm location, you will lead a defined geographic purchasing region responsible for approximately 5 million tons of fuel and an annual spend of $6 billion. This is a high-visibility role involving high-value negotiations with international energy majors to ensure cost efficiency and supply security for one of the world’s largest fleets.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement: Manage end-to-end fuel procurement for a designated global region, executing both long-term contracts and daily spot deals.
- Market Analysis: Monitor global energy markets and economic indicators to drive data-informed procurement strategies.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with international energy companies and internal departments including fleet management and operations.
- Sustainable Transition: Play a pivotal role in the company’s environmental objectives by supporting the shift to sustainable and alternative fuels.
- Reporting & Trends: Track industry movements and provide regular performance insights to senior management.
- Supply Chain Integrity: Ensure timely and reliable fuel supply to meet rigorous commercial and operational targets.

- Experience: Proven background in purchasing or procurement, ideally within the energy, shipping, or commodities sectors.
- Education: Degree in Business, Economics, or a related field, with a genuine interest in sustainability.
