The Role: Bunker Trader
Based in Seoul, you will take direct ownership of originating and executing back-to-back marine fuel transactions. Depending on your experience level, you will manage a regional portfolio of shipowners and operators, serving as a key link between Northeast Asian markets and Oilmar’s global network.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities within the Korean and regional shipping markets.
- Trade Execution: Negotiate and manage back-to-back physical bunker trades, ensuring optimal margins and competitiveness.
- Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen long-term relationships with shipowners, charterers, and local suppliers.
- Market Insight: Monitor Northeast Asia supply-demand dynamics and price movements to provide professional advice to clients.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure all trades align with approved credit limits and adhere to global KYC and sanctions regulations.
- Regional Collaboration: Work closely with the Singapore and Dubai desks to share market intelligence and drive regional expansion projects.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Open to Mid-Level (3–6 years) or Senior-Level (6+ years) professionals with a proven background in marine fuel trading.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of South Korean ports and the broader Northeast Asia bunker market.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, or Economics (preferred).
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation and sales capability with a strong commercial mindset.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required; Korean language proficiency is essential for this location.
