The Role: Head of Bunkering – Greater Surabaya, Indonesia
The Head of Bunkering reports directly to senior management and serves as the internal subject matter expert on marine fuels, bunkering logistics, and fleet efficiency strategies.
Stepping into a collaborative and agile environment, the new leader will coordinate closely with fleet and operations teams to align on performance goals, manage fuel procurement, and ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations and fuel quality standards across cargo, container, and tanker vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Bunkering Leadership: Lead, direct, and manage all bunkering activities and commercial operations across the entire Meratus fleet.
- Fuel Efficiency Programs: Develop, implement, and scale company-wide fuel efficiency programs to drive sustainability and cost optimization.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve vessel fuel consumption performance through data-driven insights.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with fleet management and operations teams to align on strategic efficiency goals and operational targets.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure total compliance with local and international environmental regulations, emission mandates, and marine fuel quality standards.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the primary internal authority on marine fuels, bunkering economics, and decarbonization pathways.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related technical/maritime discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the maritime industry, with a strong, specialized focus on bunkering operations and fleet fuel efficiency.
- Management Background: Proven prior office- or shore-based managerial experience, with the ability to transition smoothly from specialized vessel environments to complex cargo vessel operations.
- Vessel Exposure: Demonstrated hands-on experience working with cargo, container, or tanker vessels.
- Skills & Mindset:
