The Role: Bunker Sales Manager
Based in Rotterdam or London, you will play a pivotal role in driving the next phase of growth for PetroChina’s bunker business across the ARA region and wider European market. Reporting to the CEO, Netherlands, with a dotted line into the Heavies trading team, you will hold direct responsibility for expanding the customer and supplier network, originating new commercial opportunities, and shaping the future direction of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Growth: Grow bunker sales activity across the ARA and wider European market.
- Relationship Management: Build and strengthen long-term relationships with shipowners, operators, charterers, traders, brokers, and suppliers.
- Business Development: Develop new commercial opportunities across both bunker sales and physical supply activities.
- Product Trading: Trade and market marine fuels including VLSFO, HSFO, MGO, LNG, methanol, and biofuels.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with trading, operations, credit, and risk functions to safely and efficiently execute transactions.
- Strategic Impact: Help shape the long-term growth, scaling, and development of the bunker business.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Demonstrable success within bunker sales, bunker trading, physical supply, or marine fuels.
- Network: An established network of shipowners, operators, charterers, traders, brokers, and bunker suppliers, ideally across the ARA market.
- Track Record: A strong history of winning new business, developing strategic customer relationships, and building sustainable commercial partnerships.
- Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of bunker market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, supply chains, trading economics, and risk management (credit and market exposure).
- Marine Fuels Expertise: Sound knowledge of conventional bunker grades, with experience or exposure to alternative fuels (LNG, methanol, biofuels) viewed favorably.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the ARA bunker market landscape, key counterparties, and regional dynamics.
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation capabilities, operational understanding of bunker supply and port logistics, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Dutch is highly advantageous but not required.
- Education: Degree-educated in a relevant discipline or possessing equivalent industry experience.
