Digital bunkering platform Ofiniti has acquired Rotterdam-based maritime intelligence firm Teqplay, integrating real-time digital twin technology and AI-driven workflow tools across its global network. The acquisition triples Ofiniti’s customer base, establishes its presence in the Netherlands, and secures a strategic foothold on the US Gulf Coast via the Port of Corpus Christi.
Oslo and Rotterdam | May 28, 2026 – In a major consolidation within the maritime technology sector, Ofiniti, the leading digital platform for marine fuel operations, has announced the acquisition of Rotterdam-based maritime intelligence company Teqplay.
The acquisition marks a major strategic transition for Ofiniti, extending its reach from commercial execution and digital documentation into real-time operational intelligence. By integrating Teqplay’s sophisticated digital twin capabilities, Ofiniti aims to eliminate traditional maritime blind spots, providing a unified, real-time operational picture across the global bunkering ecosystem.

Expanding Market Share and Scaling Alternative Fuels
Ofiniti has rapidly cemented itself as the backbone of digital bunkering logistics, managing scheduling, operational coordination, and digital documentation across the world’s most critical marine fuel hubs.
In 2025, Ofiniti’s flagship platform, FuelBoss, processed more than 25,000 bunker operations. Notably, this included 500,000 metric tonnes of alternative fuels, a volume the company expects to increase tenfold in 2026 as decarbonization mandates tighten.
The company is particularly dominant in Singapore, the world’s premier digital bunkering market, where it currently commands an approximate 40% market share.
Integrating Digital Twins and AI Workflows
Founded in Rotterdam in 2015 by Léon Gommans and Richard van Klaveren, Teqplay specializes in building maritime digital twins. Leveraging real-time Automatic Identification System (AIS) data, weather metrics, and port statistics, Teqplay tracks vessel and cargo movements across 490 ports in 90 countries.
Its proprietary Port Reporter tool generates independent, highly accurate timestamps of every vessel movement through a port. This data layer is heavily relied upon by port authorities, terminals, and shipping lines to benchmark port-call performance and reduce operational waste.
The New Integrated Tech Stack
By integrating Teqplay into Ofiniti, every logged fuel delivery will immediately benefit from a live intelligence layer:
- Real-Time Vessel Visibility: Live tracking of bunkering tankers and receiving vessels to optimize delivery windows.
- AI-Driven Decision Support: Machine learning algorithms will analyze port-call data to surface actionable recommendations directly within operator workflows.
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connectors: Advanced MCP connectors will allow external customer systems and proprietary AI agents to query Ofiniti’s live data streams in real time.
Following the acquisition, Teqplay’s founders will join Ofiniti’s executive leadership team to spearhead technical and commercial integration. Léon Gommans takes on the role of SVP Partnerships, while Richard van Klaveren steps in as Director of Product & Data.
Strategic Synergies and Geographic Expansion
The acquisition yields immediate cross-border benefits, tripling Ofiniti’s global customer base and establishing its first physical office footprint in the Netherlands. Crucially, the transaction injects a robust US customer base anchored by the Port of Corpus Christi, positioning Ofiniti squarely in the center of the rapidly growing US Gulf Coast LNG bunkering market.
| Transaction Highlights | Strategic Impact |
| Customer Base | Instantly tripled via Teqplay’s existing global portfolio. |
| Geographic Footprint | New dedicated office in Rotterdam; entry into the US Gulf Coast via the Port of Corpus Christi. |
| Product Capability | Evolves FuelBoss from a compliant documentation tool into an active operational decision-support platform. |
Leadership Perspectives
“Growing up in the industry, I have always found it fascinating how the maritime industry has been able to execute at scale. Yet, I believe it still lacks a more complete and connected operational view. There are still blind spots that have led to longer waiting times, more frequent disputes, and higher emissions. What Teqplay brings is that missing visibility… We are making that operational picture usable in the moment, not just visible after the fact. In other words, we will try to make bunkering make sense.” said, Tue Nielsen, CEO of Ofiniti.
“Teqplay provides a deep, independent data layer on top of global vessel movements, built on the principle that maritime operations work better when everyone shares the same picture. The merger with Ofiniti significantly expands that capability, combining Teqplay’s intelligence layer with Ofiniti’s strong position in bunker operations across many of the world’s leading bunker suppliers and ports.” said, Léon Gommans, SVP Partnerships at Ofiniti and Co-Founder of Teqplay
“No industry of comparable size has been so slow to digitise as maritime. As we look to the future of the industry, it is clear that the companies that will define its next decade are those bring together workflow, data, and intelligence into a single offering. Ofiniti is doing exactly that… just as the centre of gravity in global LNG bunkering shifts toward the US Gulf Coast.” said, Alex Chikunov, Founding Partner at Verb Ventures
“Ofiniti has executed against an ambitious plan since spinning out of DNV in 2024. The acquisition of Teqplay is the natural next step: it broadens the platform from execution and documentation into the operational decision support our customers increasingly expect. Combined with Ofiniti’s leadership in Singapore and growing presence in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, the addition of a US Gulf Coast customer base meaningfully strengthens the company’s claim as the global maritime operations platform.” said, Kaare Helle, Venture Director at DNV Ventures
