The partnership leverages an existing corporate relationship, as both entities operate within the Alfa Laval joint venture ownership ecosystem. By merging StormGeo’s predictive meteorological data with Oceanbird’s aerodynamic modeling, the collaboration transitions wind technology from a standalone hardware installation into a fully integrated voyage optimization solution.

According to Oceanbird’s internal operational modeling, the inclusion of dynamic weather routing across typical global trade lanes yields up to a 25% increase in wing-generated thrust compared to unoptimized voyaging.
This data highlights a critical shift in the maritime industry’s approach to wind-assisted propulsion systems (WAPS). Fleet operators are increasingly realizing that maximizing fuel offsets is not merely a matter of retrofitting a wing propulsion unit (WPU) onto a vessel’s deck.
