MacGregor has secured a comprehensive RoRo equipment order from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard for TT-Line’s two new Green Ship 2.0 battery-hybrid LNG ferries. The 240-metre RoPax vessels will offer 5,400 lane metres of cargo capacity and accommodation for 1,000 people, operating on key Baltic Sea routes. The project builds on a collaboration dating to 2021 and supports TT-Line’s focus on energy efficiency, lower emissions and sustainable ferry operations.
Finland | September 2, 2026 – MacGregor has signed contracts with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard to supply a comprehensive package of RoRo equipment for TT-Line’s two new Green Ship 2.0 battery-hybrid LNG ferries. The contract covers multiple RoRo equipment systems for each vessel, making it one of MacGregor’s most extensive RoPax equipment scopes to date. The agreement is also expected to establish a strong operational and service foundation throughout the vessels’ lifecycles.
The order was recorded in MacGregor’s Q2 2026 orders received.
240-Metre Battery-Hybrid LNG Ferries
The two new RoPax ferries are being developed to support more sustainable and efficient maritime transport in the Baltic Sea. Each 240-metre vessel will provide 5,400 lane metres of cargo capacity and accommodation for up to 1,000 people. The ships will operate on key Baltic Sea routes linking Sweden, Germany, Poland and Lithuania.
The ferries will combine battery-hybrid technology with LNG propulsion, supporting TT-Line’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and provide lower-impact freight and passenger transportation.
Building on Long-Term Collaboration
The agreement follows a project development process that began in 2021, with MacGregor drawing on operational experience and technical lessons from previous TT-Line fleet projects. According to MacGregor, this experience has helped the teams refine the equipment design, improve reliability and optimise project execution processes for the new vessels.
