Cochin, India | August 18, 2026 – MacGregor has landed a major contract to supply a comprehensive suite of cargo handling and hatch cover solutions for six new 1,700 TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered container ships. Being built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for international carrier CMA CGM, the vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2031.
The landmark project marks a historic milestone for the Indian maritime industry, as CMA CGM becomes the first major international carrier to commission LNG-powered vessels from an Indian shipyard. Booked into MacGregor’s Q2 2026 orders, the supply scope features custom design, key components, steel structures, and fabrication of hatch covers, alongside cell guides, deck stanchions, and fixed container fittings.

Designed to run on LNG while remaining future-proofed for low-carbon fuels, the vessels support CMA CGM’s corporate target to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
