Chimbusco Pan Nation – CPN, has set a new Chinese national record by bunkering 2,500 MT of B100 marine biodiesel in Hong Kong. Using the specialized Type II tanker Guo Si, the operation delivered an 89% GHG reduction, proving the commercial viability of large-scale pure biofuel operations in the Asian bunker market.
Hong Kong | May 4, 2026 – Chimbusco Pan Nation (CPN) has shattered national records, completing the largest single B100 marine biodiesel bunkering operation ever recorded in China.
On May 2, 2026, CPN successfully delivered 2,500 metric tonnes (MT) of pure B100 biodiesel to a vessel in Hong Kong waters. The operation marks a definitive shift in the regional bunker market, proving that large-scale, pure biofuel stems are no longer just a pilot concept, but a commercial reality.
An 89% Slash in Emissions
The environmental stakes of this operation are significant. By utilizing B100, rather than the more common B24 or B30 blends, the vessel achieved a 89% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional heavy fuel oil (HFO).
This record-breaking delivery comes just four months after CPN officially launched its dedicated B100 supply service in January 2026. The rapid scale-up to a 2,500 MT single delivery underscores a surging market demand for high-concentration biofuels as shipowners race to meet tightening IMO and FuelEU Maritime standards.
Technical Precision: The Role of the ‘Guo Si’
Handling pure B100 requires significantly more technical rigor than traditional fuels due to its chemical properties. The operation was executed by CPN’s specialized bunker tanker, Guo Si, which currently stands as a unique asset in the Pearl River Delta.
- Type II Certification: The Guo Si is the only bunker tanker in Hong Kong holding the Type II certification dedicated to B100 operations.
- Regulatory Rigor: The vessel has been fully upgraded to meet the IMO IBC Code and Hong Kong Cap. 413E standards, ensuring that the high-flashpoint and solvent-like properties of pure biodiesel are handled without compromising safety or cargo integrity.
“This operation reflects the rigorous standards required for the handling of B100 marine biodiesel,” CPN stated. “It underscores the importance of choosing fully compliant suppliers when sourcing alternative and low-carbon energy solutions.”
Hong Kong’s Competitive Edge
As the only fully compliant B100 supplier in the territory, CPN is positioning Hong Kong as a critical hub for “green corridors” in Asia. While other ports in the region are still navigating the regulatory framework for pure biofuels, CPN’s established infrastructure provides a “plug-and-play” decarbonization solution for international fleets.
The success of the Guo Si and this 2,500 MT delivery serves as a validation of CPN’s long-term strategy to normalize alternative fuels in everyday maritime operations.
