The Role: Bunker Trader – Singapore
Based in Singapore under a hybrid office/remote model, the bunker trader will work across commercial trading and sales functions. The candidate will oversee daily pricing for core fuel products, including Gas Oil (GO), High Sulfur Fuel Oil (HSFO), and Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), while originating new marine accounts and nurturing key commercial relationships.
Additionally, the role requires inputting critical market intelligence into the desk, managing book exposure, and serving as vital operational cover for physical bunker traders and account managers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy & Trading Execution: Work alongside bunker and cargo traders to oversee daily pricing and commercial trading for GO, HSFO, and VLSFO in the Singapore market.
- Account Management & Origination: Manage key marine accounts and actively pursue new business opportunities, driving growth in traditional and low-carbon marine fuels.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy: Provide actionable market insights to the trading desk to shape near-term and mid-term commercial strategies for the Singapore marine book.
- Position & Exposure Oversight: Maintain oversight of book exposure and collaborate with functional teams to ensure accurate and timely P&L reporting.
- Team Analytics & Optimization: Contribute to the continuous improvement of data analytics, market intelligence, and operational efficiency across bp marine.
- Cross-Functional Cover: Act as primary cover for physical bunker traders and account managers within the regional team.
Candidate Profile
Background & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in marine fuel marketing, bunker trading, or account management within the shipping/energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore marine fuel markets (GO, HSFO, VLSFO) and exposure management principles.
Skills & Mindset:
- Commercial acumen with proven consultative selling, negotiation, and account strategy capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and digital fluency.
- Agile, collaborative mindset capable of managing stakeholder relationships across dynamic, fast-paced trading environments.
