The Role: Bunker Trader – Valencia, Spain
The Valencia office serves as a vital operational anchor for Glander International Bunkering, monitoring crucial trade flows through the Strait of Gibraltar and connecting shipping routes between Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
The new Bunker Trader will step into a collaborative, supportive environment focused on proactive client outreach and business development. Working closely with experienced global desks, the successful candidate will manage end-to-end commercial operations, from identifying market opportunities and negotiating fuel contracts to coordinating logistics and supporting new sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Execution: Engage in the day-to-day trading of marine fuels and lubricants, negotiating competitive prices and closing deals.
- Relationship Management: Build, nurture, and maintain long-term, trust-driven relationships with international shipowners, charterers, and local fuel suppliers.
- Business Development: Identify emerging commercial opportunities, expand market share, and participate in client and supplier site visits.
- Operational Alignment: Collaborate with internal operational, risk, and credit teams to ensure seamless delivery execution and high client satisfaction.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work alongside global desks to capture cross-regional trade flows and leverage the firm’s international network.
Candidate Profile
- Background & Experience:
- Proven experience in bunker trading, OR a strong track record in B2B sales with a desire to build a career in the marine energy sector (oil industry experience is a plus, but not mandatory).
- Skills & Mindset:
- Highly collaborative, positive, and results-driven attitude capable of thriving in an agile environment.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills to establish instant rapport with industry stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial drive with high discipline, goal orientation, and an eagerness to learn.
- Language Requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required for daily international trading operations.
- Proficiency in at least one additional language (such as Spanish or another maritime language) is highly advantageous.
