The milestone, executed at the KN Energies terminal in the Port of Klaipėda on March 30, 2026, signals a maturing global supply chain for drop-in renewable fuels.
The operation involved the transfer of certified, waste-based Bio-LNG to the Avenir Ascension, which subsequently transported the fuel to Sweden. The cargo is destined for Destination Gotland, the Swedish ferry operator currently leading the charge in regional maritime emission reductions.
Operational Logistics: The “Drop-In” Advantage
The success of this operation centered on the Avenir Ascension, a 7,500 cbm vessel that is a cornerstone of Avenir’s five-ship fleet. As one of the most active bunker vessels in Northwest Europe, performing over 200 operations annually, the Ascension proved the technical ease of integrating Bio-LNG into existing infrastructure.
