The Sun Chief Express Ocean service, operated by Swire Shipping in collaboration with UWL, offers a direct connection between Vietnam and the United States. This service is recognized as the fastest in the market, providing express connections into North America as well as to Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The successful biofuel trial aligns with Swire Shipping’s dedication to sustainable shipping practices and reinforces its position as an industry leader in green shipping solutions.
Commitment to Sustainable Shipping

The B24 biofuel used in the trial is a blend consisting of 24% sustainable biodiesel derived from waste sources and 76% conventional marine fuel. This combination allows for a significant reduction in carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to transition towards cleaner energy in maritime operations.
Partnerships in Innovation
The trial was conducted aboard the MV Suva Chief, a vessel on the Sun Chief Express Ocean service, which was bunkered with the sustainable B24 biofuel in Hong Kong. This trial was made possible through a collaboration with Hong Kong-based marine fuel supplier, Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-chemical Co Ltd (CPN), and Swire Shipping’s bunkering partner, the Hafnia Bunker Alliance.
