Neptune Lines has taken delivery of the LNG dual-fuel car carrier Neptune Pireas, the first of four newbuildings under its Genesis Project fleet renewal strategy. Built at Fujian Mawei Shipyard and flying the Greek flag, the vessel combines advanced environmental sustainability with operational flexibility to support the company’s expanding global logistics services.
Piraeus, Greece | May 7, 2026 – The Neptune Group of Companies has officially taken delivery of the next-generation car carrier Neptune Pireas, marking a defining milestone in the Group’s ongoing fleet renewal and expansion strategy.
The vessel is the first of four state-of-the-art newbuildings commissioned under the company’s ambitious “Genesis Project”.
A Milestone Delivery at Fujian Mawei Shipyard
The delivery ceremony took place on Monday, April 27, at the Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China. The event was attended by the Chair of the Board of Neptune Group of Companies, Melina Travlos, alongside key representatives and partnering stakeholders from both Greece and China.
Flying the Greek flag, the Neptune Pireas proudly bears the signature “eye” on its bow, a distinctive hallmark of the Group’s fleet. The vessel is named in honor of Piraeus, the historic port that serves as the heart of Greek shipping and the original launching point for Neptune’s maritime journey more than 50 years ago.
Cutting-Edge Environmental and Operational Flexibility
Engineered to meet the stringent demands of modern maritime regulations, the Neptune Pireas is equipped with LNG dual-fuel capability. The system allows the vessel to operate seamlessly on both liquefied natural gas and conventional marine fuels, providing high operational flexibility while significantly reducing its environmental footprint.
