The delivery, completed on April 30, 2026, marks the second handover of this zero-carbon-ready design in less than three months. It signals that the shipbuilder’s global production framework for next-generation methane-pathway and alcohol-fueled vessels is moving from boutique engineering into high-gear series production.
Global Production Milestone for TZS
The handover follows the February 3, 2026, delivery of the series’ first vessel, which was immediately placed on a long-term charter with Danish container shipping giant A.P. Moller – Maersk.
While Tsuneishi spearheaded its methanol dual-fuel rollout within Japan (delivering a pioneering Ultramax bulk carrier in May 2025) and via its Philippine base at Cebu (handing over the world’s first methanol Kamsarmax in January 2026), this second Chinese delivery proves that the complex design, piping, and safety protocols required for volatile green fuels have successfully scaled across borders.

Full-Spectrum Methanol Combustion
By opting for HD Hyundai HiMSEN dual-fuel auxiliary engines, the vessel can run both its main propulsion and its on-board electrical generators on green methanol. Barring a negligible amount of conventional pilot fuel required for ignition, the ship can eliminate nearly all operational carbon emissions when utilizing sustainably sourced e-methanol or bio-methanol.
Port-Side Decarbonization
The container carrier features large-capacity Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) systems. This enables the crew to completely shut down its auxiliary engines and connect to shore power while berthed, wiping out localized port emissions (SOx, NOx, and particulate matter).
Advanced Hydrodynamics
To offset the lower energy density of methanol fuel, which typically requires larger storage volumes, Tsuneishi integrated an improved hull form alongside its MT-FAST technology. MT-FAST applies a series of stators behind the propeller to recover rotational energy from the propeller slipstream, improving fuel efficiency by up to 4% and maintaining competitive cargo hold volumes despite the added fuel-tank footprint.
