Oilmar DMCC is seeking skilled and motivated Marine Fuels Trader for its offices in Singapore and Athens, Greece. The bunker Trader will be responsible for purchasing and selling marine fuel to vessels, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
Marine Fuels Trader Key Responsibilities
In this role, the marine fuels trader will manage relationships with both suppliers and clients, negotiate contracts, and oversee the logistics of fuel delivery. Staying informed on market trends and effectively managing financial and operational risks is critical in this fast-paced industry. This position requires strong negotiation skills, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to make quick, well-informed decisions.
- Execute back-to-back bunker trading operations.
- Develop and canvass a client base of ship owners, operators, and charterers.
- Utilize the team’s existing supply sources to deliver effective solutions.
- Monitor the entire supply chain from loading to operations, delivery, and payments.
- Oversee the maintenance and collection of accounts receivables and payments associated with trades.
- Provide daily pricing and fuel indications from suppliers to the team and clients.
- Record and follow up on trade-related activities and payments.
- Maintain a detailed log of trade activities in the company database (Excel and ERP systems).
- Consistently meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monthly sales targets.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in bunker trading or a related field within the maritime industry.
- Strong understanding of vessel operations, fuel specifications, and international bunkering regulations.
- Proven expertise in negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and clients.
- A solid grasp of financial markets and risk management, with the ability to analyze market trends.
- Familiarity with maritime environmental regulations and pollution prevention best practices.
- A team player with a positive, proactive attitude and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, round-the-clock trading environment.
- Strong compliance drive, along with solid timekeeping and bookkeeping skills.
