NAPA, a renowned provider of software and data services for ship design and operations, has entered a strategic partnership with Ahti Climate, a trailblazer in FuelEU Maritime pooling services. This collaboration aims to simplify and enhance compliance with the European Union’s FuelEU Maritime regulations for shipowners and operators.

Partnership Details

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two entities, integrating Ahti climate’s active pool management services into NAPA’s digital ecosystem. The integration will allow NAPA customers to directly access their pool balance via the NAPA Fleet Intelligence platform, using the NAPA FuelEU Maritime module.

Launched in autumn 2024, the module was developed after a successful pilot project involving 1,500 vessels in collaboration with ClassNK. It has already demonstrated its effectiveness in streamlining compliance processes. This partnership is set to further reduce operational and administrative costs for NAPA’s clients, providing a frictionless path to compliance.

Risto Kariranta, CEO of Ahti Climate, commented “We are excited to be gaining NAPA as a partner. Just like NAPA, Ahti Pool is working towards a world with smarter, safer, and more sustainable shipping. This agreement will enable more than a thousand ships using NAPA Fleet Intelligence to fulfill their FuelEU Maritime obligations quickly and cost-effectively.”

Ossi Mettälä, Product Manager for NAPA Shipping Solutions, highlighted the significance of this partnership “NAPA is committed to providing innovative and efficient solutions that support the decarbonization of the shipping industry. This partnership with Ahti Climate strengthens our commitment by providing customers with an efficient compliance solution for meeting FuelEU Maritime regulations – one that is trusted by major shipowners and ship managers.”

Webinar Insights

In November 2024, NAPA and Ahti Climate jointly hosted a webinar (view) to explore the impacts of the FuelEU Maritime regulation on shipowners and charterers. The session provided expert insights on effective compliance strategies, fuel management, and operational techniques, making it an invaluable resource for maritime stakeholders.

This partnership between NAPA and Ahti Climate is set to redefine compliance processes for the maritime industry, paving the way for smarter, more sustainable shipping operations.
