Molgas and Titan Clean Fuels Unite LNG Bunkering

Madrid, Spain & Amsterdam, Netherlands | October 7, 2025 – In a landmark move poised to reshape the landscape of Europe’s clean fuel sector, Molgas Energy Group has finalized its full acquisition of Titan Energy Holding, the parent company of Titan Clean Fuels. The deal, backed by infrastructure investor InfraVia Capital Partners, cements Molgas’ position as a dominant force in downstream LNG and bio-LNG solutions across the continent.

This strategic acquisition builds on Molgas’ previous 45% minority stake in Titan, marking a significant step in its mission to expand clean marine fuel infrastructure and services across Europe. The two companies will now fully integrate into a single, unified entity, combining assets, expertise, and networks to lead the industry through the clean energy transition.

A New European Leader in Clean Fuel Bunkering

Titan, a leading supplier of liquefied biomethane (LBM/bio-LNG) and LNG, has been at the forefront of maritime and industrial fuel innovation. Its agile fleet of small-scale LNG bunkering vessels and flexible operations across Northwest Europe have earned it a reputation for reliability and customer-centric solutions.

The integration of Titan’s bunkering operations with Molgas’ existing activities in Norway and across continental Europe creates a truly pan-European network. Molgas now operates:

  • Seven LNG bunkering vessels
  • 70+ proprietary road-fuelling stations
  • 200+ total points of sale, including partner stations

This expanded infrastructure enables end-to-end supply across marine, industrial, and heavy-duty transport sectors, positioning Molgas as the leading downstream LNG and bio-LNG supplier in Europe.

Strategic Synergy at a Critical Juncture for Maritime Decarbonization

With the introduction of strict regulatory frameworks such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and FuelEU Maritime, demand for scalable, low-emission fuels has accelerated. LNG and bio-LNG have emerged as immediate, viable pathways toward decarbonizing sectors that are traditionally hard to abate — especially shipping.

Molgas and Titan are now uniquely equipped to meet this demand head-on, offering comprehensive, flexible, and cost-effective bunkering services via ship-to-ship and truck-to-ship logistics across Europe.

Sofoklis Papanikolaou, CEO of Molgas, stated “Niels and the Titan team started as true pioneers, showing remarkable innovation and building Titan into one of the sector’s most reliable LNG bunkering operators. This acquisition extends our capabilities and reach significantly. Together, we will deliver LNG and bio-LNG solutions across Europe and beyond, with a dedicated marine fuels team and deep decarbonization expertise.”

Leadership and Vision for the Future

As part of the integration, Niels den Nijs, CEO of Titan, will take on the role of Executive Vice President, Marine, at Molgas. He will lead all marine activities, overseeing the newly consolidated bunkering operations and expanding clean fuel services across Europe’s ports.

Niels den Nijs remarked “From the outset, our partnership with Molgas was a strategic fit. Now, as one company, we can better serve our long-term clients with stronger financial backing and broader reach. Our mission remains unchanged: to deliver economical clean fuels at scale to help decarbonize shipping.”

This integration also signifies greater financial resilience and an enhanced platform for scaling clean fuels. Titan’s collaborative approach with shipowners and operators to implement LBM, LNG, and e-methane solutions remains central to the new entity’s strategy.

Backed by Infrastructure Investment to Scale Clean Energy

Athanasios Zoulovits, Partner at InfraVia Capital Partners, commented “Titan brings unmatched expertise in clean marine fuels. Together with Molgas, this acquisition accelerates our vision to lead Europe’s transition to sustainable mobility and industrial energy. We’re proud to support this next phase of growth.”

Jogchum Brinksma, Chairman of Titan’s Board, added “It has been a privilege to oversee Titan’s growth journey. With Molgas and InfraVia, the company gains the scale and backing needed to be a global leader in alternative fuels.”

A Clear Path Forward to Net-Zero Shipping

While the broader market continues to explore a variety of fuel options, the new Molgas-Titan entity reaffirms its focus on realistic, scalable pathways to net-zero emissions. The companies will continue to develop and deliver flexible clean fuel programs, supporting shipping lines and logistics operators in meeting today’s regulatory challenges — and tomorrow’s sustainability goals.
