As part of our ambitious growth strategy, KPI OceanConnect is looking for a determined procurement professional who can help navigate the market and negotiate attractive prices and terms. You will be working in an international organisation and will be part of the established sourcing team in Rotterdam.

Job purpose and role

As Bunker Purchaser in KPI OceanConnect you will, amongst others, be given the responsibility to offer strategies and reliable bunkering solutions to various stakeholders. Offering advice to key stakeholders, investigate and explore new trends and tendencies within the market and perform best practice with a professional approach using market knowledge and expertise will also be key tasks to succeed in the role. Furthermore, active involvement in daily price sourcing, sourcing of marine fuel, following up on deliveries, confirmations whilst managing cost and quality will all be part of your daily tasks.

Your other tasks include:

  • Handling of day-to-day supply chain activities such as back-to-back purchasing from physical market and participate in daily routines offering support, advice, and guidance to colleagues within our Group.
  • Utilize relevant statistical and hedging tools to achieve competitive prices, optimizing trading profits. Being proficient in contract/swap pricing management is preferred
  • Establish, develop, and optimize strategic partnership with suppliers/marketing teams through consistent engagements, performing the role of bridging the gap between supply and sales team.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of market legislation accompanied with gaining expertise on future fuels supporting our ambitious drive to be a leading business partner within the green transition.

A proactive, positive, and hands-on profile

The ideal candidate has 2-3 years sourcing experience from previous employment, technical insight in bunkering, negotiation skills and project management capabilities. We expect you to have at least 3-5 years’ experience from a similar position, preferably from the oil & gas industry. As a person you are positive, result-oriented, structured and a proactive individual who is comfortable operating at all levels to solve issues. You are a self-starter who operates effectively with minimum supervision and a positive attitude.

Furthermore, you have:

  • A commercial approach to procurement and relevant purchasing qualification
  • Demonstrable “hands on” problem solving abilities in multi-cultural and dynamic environments.
  • Experience on biofuels or alternative fuels would be a big plus
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • English on a professional level – written/orally – additional languages would be considered an advantage
