London, UK – October 22, 2025 — As the maritime industry accelerates its shift toward low and zero-carbon fuels, IBIA – the International Bunker Industry Association – has refreshed its logo and brand identity, signaling the association’s evolution into a broader representative body for the entire marine fuels supply chain.
In an announcement shared, IBIA confirmed it is expanding its services and membership base to encompass emerging marine fuel technologies — including biofuels, LNG, methanol, and ammonia — while continuing to advocate for standards, transparency, and infrastructure development in the conventional bunker sector.
“Bunkering remains the most widespread method of delivering fuel to vessels, regardless of fuel choice,” the association shared. “IBIA will continue to champion reliable infrastructure, fuel quality standards and safe delivery processes, while upholding transparency and quality in conventional fuels throughout the transition.”
Founded in 1992, IBIA has long served as the voice of the traditional bunkering industry. But with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and regional regulators pushing for significant emissions reductions by 2030 and 2050, the role of marine fuel providers is rapidly evolving. IBIA’s refreshed brand identity reflects a strategic evolution to ensure the organization remains a central player in shaping the future energy landscape of shipping.

New Logo Reflects Global, Diversified Membership
A key part of the announcement was the unveiling of a refreshed visual identity, including a redesigned logo that reflects IBIA’s increasingly global and fuel-diverse membership.
“We have refreshed our logo and brand identity to better represent our diverse, global membership across both traditional and emerging marine fuels,” the statement added.
The updated branding emphasizes inclusivity and innovation, two themes that are expected to define the next chapter of marine fuel supply as the industry moves toward sustainability and resilience.
Staying the Course on Safety and Standards
Despite the shift in focus, IBIA reaffirmed its commitment to the foundational pillars of bunkering: fuel quality, operational safety, supply chain integrity, and transparency. These core values remain critical as the market adapts to newer, more complex fuel types — many of which pose unique handling, storage, and compatibility challenges.
IBIA has also been actively involved in international regulatory forums, including IMO working groups, where it continues to advocate for realistic, practical, and enforceable standards for both conventional and alternative marine fuels.
Driving Collaboration Across the Energy Transition
With its broadened scope, IBIA aims to serve not just traditional bunker suppliers and traders, but also fuel producers, technology providers, shipowners, port authorities, and environmental stakeholders — fostering cross-sector dialogue at a time when collaboration is essential.
As the pace of innovation in marine fuels accelerates, IBIA’s transformation is seen as a timely and strategic move — one that positions the association as a leading convener and standard-bearer for the next generation of maritime energy.
About IBIA
The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) is the authoritative voice of the global bunker industry, representing all sectors and stakeholders across the entire marine fuels value chain. Established in October 1992, IBIA serves as a vital platform where shipowners, charterers, bunker suppliers, oil majors and independents, traders, brokers, barging companies, surveyors, port authorities, credit reporting agencies, lawyers, P&I clubs, equipment manufacturers, shipping associations, NGOs, journalists, marine consultants, regional bodies, and government representatives come together.
IBIA plays a critical role in fostering collaboration and professionalism within the industry by promoting education, upholding high standards of conduct, and developing best practices. The Association actively engages in discussions and negotiations with other industry bodies, as well as national and international policymakers and legislators — including the International Maritime Organization (IMO), where IBIA holds consultative NGO status.
With a growing global membership, IBIA provides a comprehensive international forum to address the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by the bunker industry. The Association continues to expand its scope and influence, ensuring the industry’s voice is heard in shaping the future of marine fuels and maritime regulation.
IBIA maintains offices strategically located in the UK, South Africa, and Singapore to support its global operations and engagement.
