In a significant move set to shape the future of international shipping, the Chief Executive Officer of major ocean carriers – the CMA CGM Group, COSCO SHIPPING, Evergreen, and OOCL – have announced the extension of their operational cooperation within the OCEAN Alliance. This extension, agreed upon during a momentous signing ceremony held in Shanghai, ensures the continuation of collaborative efforts until at least 2032.
Since its inception in 2017, the OCEAN Alliance has served as a cornerstone of global shipping, facilitating seamless connectivity across seven major East/West trade routes. By leveraging the collective strengths of its founding members, the alliance has consistently delivered top-tier services characterized by swift transit times, competitive sailing frequencies, and extensive port coverage.
The memorandum of understanding signed today reaffirms the alliance’s commitment to providing customers with unparalleled shipping solutions while fostering sustainability and reliability throughout the supply chain. With a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impact, the OCEAN Alliance remains steadfast in its dedication to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
