In a groundbreaking operation, CPN supplied over 4,300 metric tons of ISCC-EU certified B24 high-sulphur marine biofuel to the vessel COSCO NETHERLANDS, operated by COSCO Shipping Holdings Co., Ltd.
This marked the first-ever B24 High-Sulphur Marine Biofuel supply operation in Hong Kong, signaling a pivotal moment for both environmental sustainability and COSCO’s decarbonization endeavors.
B24 marine biofuel, comprising 24% B100 biodiesel blended with Marine Fuel Oil, represents a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions and fostering environmental stewardship. CPN’s dedication to sustainable development has been evident since 2021, with the establishment of a dedicated taskforce focused on researching alternative fuels, including Marine Biofuel. This effort aimed to contribute to a more sustainable shipping industry and has resulted in the successful supply of B24 marine biofuel to over ten ocean-going vessels.
Compared to traditional marine diesel, B100 biodiesel boasts an impressive reduction in carbon emissions by at least 84%, underscoring its potential to drive substantial carbon reduction across the global shipping industry. CPN remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and advancing marine bunkering operations. The company pledges to continue developing and supplying innovative alternative fuels, thereby elevating environmental protection standards within the maritime sector.
