This strategic 1.5 MTPA LNG agreement between Venture Global and Vitol arrives as a critical stabilizer for global energy markets amid ongoing Middle East maritime disruptions. By securing flexible U.S. supply, the partnership ensures long-term energy security and reliable feedstock for the growing LNG bunkering sector. This move reinforces the U.S. Gulf Coast as a primary hub for global maritime fuel and industrial energy transitions through 2026 and beyond.
Arlington, Va. | March 23, 2026 – In a move that reinforces the dominance of U.S. energy in the global maritime and power sectors, Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE: VG) and Vitol have officially executed a binding agreement for the purchase and sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The agreement covers the supply of approximately 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of U.S. LNG. The five-year contract is set to commence in 2026, drawing from Venture Global’s extensive portfolio of Gulf Coast liquefaction assets.
Strategic Timing for Global Markets
The partnership comes at a critical juncture for the global energy market. As traditional supply routes face unprecedented disruptions, the demand for flexible, “destination-free” U.S. LNG has surged. This approx. 1.5 MTPA volume provides Vitol, the world’s largest independent energy trader, with a reliable feedstock to serve its diversified global portfolio, including the growing LNG-as-a-marine-fuel (bunkering) sector.
