SK Energy International is seeking a Team Leader to head its Global Fuel Oil and Asia Bunker Trading operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of traders, operators, and analysts in the FO/Material Biz Office, reporting directly to the Head of FO/Material Biz Office (VP). This pivotal role supports SK Energy’s global commodities trading business.
Team Leader, Global Fuel Oil and Asia Bunker Trading – Key Responsibilities
Managing Fuel Oil and Bunker Trading Position
- Lead the trading team to identify and develop opportunities in fuel oil and bunker trading.
- Maximize trading profits and achieve team goals through:
- Strategizing sustainable business flows and profit models.
- Conducting marketing activities, including overseas business trips.
- Implementing effective risk management, including hedging and forecasting.
- Promote the company’s physical supply business while leveraging global trading activities.
- Oversee daily sales, marketing, and trading activities of marine fuels across multiple ports.
- Coordinate with the cargo trading team for integrated optimization strategies.
- Align with headquarters (HQ) to optimize global fuel oil value chains, co-working with supply chain management and refineries.
- Build and maintain strong client relations with shipowners, operators, traders, brokers, and commercial clients.
- Monitor developments in the oil, bunker, and shipping industries, including IMO regulations and renewable energy trends.
- Develop trading strategies and manage customer relationships (CRM) to enhance business growth.
- Report key trading activities and market trends to management and HQ regularly.
Business Support
- Provide market analysis, insights, and technical guidance to other traders.
- Recommend hedging strategies and methods to leverage market positions.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulatory requirements.
Management Reporting
- Deliver 24/7 reporting on fuel oil market developments to management.
- Prepare strategic management reports, including bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual updates.
- Set and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the team.
Strategy Planning and Stakeholder Management
- Cultivate long-term partnerships and trust-based relationships with stakeholders.
- Resolve conflicts by devising strategies and achieving mutually beneficial solutions.
- Anticipate customer needs and propose tailored solutions to exceed expectations.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a trader in the oil industry, including marine fuels, bunkers, and petroleum products.
- Proven track record in international trading with market development expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Trading, Business, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Fuel oil cargo business, including trading, blending, logistics, and quality parameters.
- Commodity markets, hedging, and price risk management.
- Freight trading, chartering, and global fleet positioning.
- International bunker business and industry trends.
- Experience in negotiating spot and term contracts with customers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and expand market presence for international trading firms.
