Position: Junior Supply Trader – Location: Houston, Texas

The Junior Supply Trader will engage in the daily purchase and resale of marine fuels and related products, building and managing supplier relationships while contributing to overall book profitability. The role is ideal for individuals with some prior trading experience—ideally in bunkering—who are looking to grow within a structured and performance-driven trading environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers in the region to increase strike rate and trading margins
  • Respond to inbound trading inquiries from internal offices across the Peninsula network
  • Collaborate closely with traders, credit teams, and market intelligence groups to execute efficient and risk-aware deals
  • Analyze fuel pricing, cargo index trends, and market fundamentals to identify trading opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including CRM usage, deal documentation, and supplier vetting
  • Contribute to short- and long-term trading strategies in coordination with Regional Heads and Book Managers
  • Support customer-focused activities including deal follow-ups, barge coordination, and supplier communication
Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience in trading, preferably within the bunker or maritime sector
  • Business-level English required; additional languages are an asset
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a persuasive, solutions-focused approach
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks under pressure
  • Knowledge of marine fuels, shipping markets, and fuel specifications preferred
  • Proficient in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office suite
  • Commercial mindset with a high degree of attention to detail and customer orientation
