PaxOcean is proud to announce a groundbreaking achievement in maritime sustainability: the successful completion of the world’s first methanol dual-fuel engine retrofit for a container ship, the MV Eco Umande, operated by X-Press Feeders.
MAN ES Methanol-Powered MAN 21/31DF-M GenSet Secures First OrderThis pioneering project at our Zhoushan yard transformed the 1,170 TEU feeder vessel into a more environmentally friendly option. The retrofit included a MAN Energy Solutions engine, a complete methanol fuel system, and essential modifications. The vessel was delivered on 23 June 2024.
Methanol bunkering is gaining traction as a cleaner alternative to conventional marine fuels, significantly reducing emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter. As the maritime industry seeks sustainable fuel options, methanol stands out for its potential to lower the carbon footprint of shipping operations.
PaxOcean remains dedicated to partnering with clients on their decarbonization journey.
