Kandla, India | August 21, 2026 – In a landmark move to bridge the gap between decarbonization ambitions and operational execution, the Green Ports and Shipping Network (GPSN), convened by GH2 India, officially launched its inaugural Green Shipping Policy Handbook.
The comprehensive guide was unveiled at the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla, bringing together key regulators, port operators, shipping lines, and energy stakeholders to address the rapidly evolving policy and market frameworks shaping the future of sustainable marine transport.

As the global maritime industry works to align with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) ambitious Net-Zero Framework, the new handbook serves as a vital practical compass. The port previously made headlines by executing a successful trial shore-to-ship methanol bunkering operation in collaboration with Stolt Tankers, J M Baxi, Aegis Vopak, and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). Having achieved a Level 6 rating on DNV’s Port Readiness Level scale for methanol bunkering, Kandla is actively scaling infrastructure to ensure the availability of roughly 500 KTPA of Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO)-compliant e-methanol by 2028–29 to support deep-sea dual-fuel vessels on the vital Asia-Europe trade corridor.
