GDE Marine, a subsidiary of the Grupo Dislub Equador, is celebrating a major milestone following the successful completion of its first month of bunker operations at the Port of Suape, Brazil. Launched in August 2024, the company has effectively supplied Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) to various vessel types, including oil tankers, container ships, and bulk carriers, all while maintaining a perfect on-time delivery record and zero operational incidents.
The achievement marks a significant step forward for GDE Marine as it establishes itself as a reliable player in the region’s bunker market. The company’s adherence to ISO 8217/2017 fuel standards and strict compliance with MARPOL guidelines ensures both environmental protection and operational safety. The initial month of operations sets a strong foundation for GDE Marine’s long-term presence in one of Brazil’s key maritime hubs.
“We are proud to have achieved such a smooth start in Suape, delivering quality bunker fuel that meets international standards,” said Antonio Barbará, Marine Director “Our commitment to providing high-quality, compliant fuels positions us to meet the growing demands of the maritime industry.”
Strategic Location in Suape
The Port of Suape, located in Pernambuco, is a major maritime hub in Brazil and Latin America. Its strategic position allows for seamless access to both the North and South Atlantic shipping routes, making it an ideal location for GDE Marine’s expanding bunkering operations. The port’s infrastructure supports various industries, including petrochemicals, automotive, and electronics, adding to its importance in international trade.
GDE Marine’s decision to establish its bunkering services in Suape aligns with the company’s broader strategy of expanding its footprint in South America. With the increasing demand for environmentally compliant marine fuels, GDE Marine is well-positioned to provide first-class bunkering solutions to vessels transiting through the region.
GDE Marine Expanding Presence in South America
GDE Marine’s successful first month in Suape is a continuation of its parent company Grupo Dislub Equador’s strategic move into the maritime fuel supply sector. Earlier this year, GDE announced the launch of its bunkering services in Suape as part of its vision to transform the maritime fuel landscape in Brazil. The company offers VLSFO via both barges and pipelines, ensuring flexibility and reliability for a wide range of vessels.
Antonio Barbará emphasized the importance of the new operation, saying, “Our bunkering services in Suape represent a critical step in expanding our presence in the highly competitive Brazilian maritime sector. We are committed to delivering superior marine fuels that not only meet international standards but also exceed our clients’ expectations.”
The company’s entry into Suape also highlights its ambition to become a major player in the maritime fuel supply chain, further solidifying its reputation as one of the fastest-growing energy companies in Brazil.
