FueLNG 400th LNG Bunkering in Singapore

Singapore, May 2025 — FueLNG, a leading LNG bunker supplier based in Singapore, has successfully completed its 400th ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation. This significant milestone was achieved during the maiden voyage of the BYD SHENZHEN, the world’s largest LNG-powered car carrier, at Singapore anchorage.

This achievement marks an important step forward in the decarbonization of the maritime sector and showcases FueLNG’s role in advancing the adoption of cleaner marine fuels at scale.

Supporting a Pioneering Vessel on a Historic Journey

The 400th bunkering operation involved the FueLNG Bellina, one of FueLNG’s dedicated LNG bunkering vessels. The recipient vessel, the BYD SHENZHEN, is a groundbreaking ship capable of transporting up to 9,200 vehicles. The vessel is powered by dual-fuel engines that use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner alternative to traditional marine fuels.

During its maiden voyage, the BYD SHENZHEN departed Singapore carrying more than 7,000 electric vehicles manufactured by BYD, heading for Brazil. This voyage not only supports the growth of electric mobility in South America but also demonstrates the possibility of aligning clean shipping with the global shift toward zero-emission transportation.

FueLNG’s involvement in this operation reflects its capacity to deliver reliable, large-scale LNG bunkering services and its commitment to supporting environmentally responsible maritime logistics.

FueLNG in Brief

FueLNG is a licensed LNG bunker supplier in Singapore, offering comprehensive solutions that include truck-to-ship and ship-to-ship LNG bunkering, as well as LNG distribution to industrial and commercial clients. FueLNG ensures safe, cost-efficient, and dependable operations, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

The company is a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd. This partnership brings together deep expertise in offshore infrastructure and global energy supply to support the development of Singapore’s LNG bunkering ecosystem.

FueLNG works closely with key stakeholders, including the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), to strengthen the city-state’s position as a global LNG bunkering hub.

Commitment to Standards and Safety

In collaboration with the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), FueLNG contributed to the development of the Technical Reference for LNG Bunkering (TR 56). This national standard provides a comprehensive framework for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and environmental integrity of LNG bunkering operations in Singapore.

The implementation of TR 56 has positioned Singapore as a leader in safe and standardized LNG fuel handling, and FueLNG continues to play a critical role in upholding and promoting these practices across its operations.

Accelerating the LNG Transition

FueLNG’s 400th operation is more than a numerical milestone. It represents the increasing global momentum toward the use of LNG as a transitional marine fuel that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter, and sulfur oxides compared to traditional fuels.

With the maritime industry facing tightening emissions regulations and growing demand for sustainable operations, FueLNG is positioned as a key enabler of the sector’s energy transition. The successful bunkering of the BYD SHENZHEN adds to a growing portfolio of high-impact operations that are shaping the future of clean shipping.
