Position Overview – Bunker Trader
Location: Singapore
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Bunker Trader to join our team in Singapore. This role involves engaging in the purchase and sale of marine fuels and associated products while fostering profitable, long-term relationships with clients. The successful candidate will have a strong background in sales or trading within the energy sector or maritime industry and will be proficient in managing credit risks and payment performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Proactively market and build relationships with both new and existing customers to increase inquiries and sales of Peninsula’s products and services.
- Market Intelligence: Collaborate with fellow traders to share market insights and customer intelligence across regional offices within the Peninsula Group.
- Market Analysis & Deal Negotiation: Analyze market conditions, interpret customer needs, and provide pricing information. Negotiate deals, process orders, and manage customer queries throughout the sales process.
- Risk & Credit Management: Effectively control credit risk by following up on late payments and minimizing claims. Regularly assess counterparty financial strength in coordination with the Credit Team.
- Business Development: Expand the company’s business portfolio by leveraging Peninsula’s global network, identifying new sales opportunities, and maximizing all available prospects.
Required Skills & Experience
- Fluent in English: A business level of proficiency in English is essential.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; persuasive and influential, with strong negotiation abilities.
- Time Management: Ability to work under pressure, stay organized, and maintain motivation.
- Technical Proficiency: High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the bunker industry, shipping market trends, and fuel specifications is essential.
- Teamwork & Customer Focus: Strong collaboration skills, attention to detail, and a customer-oriented mindset. Ability to listen, respond to customer queries, solve problems, and exceed customer expectations.

- Language Skills: Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
