EPS 150th LNG Bunkering Operations CMA CGM

In a remarkable achievement, Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS) celebrated its 150th LNG bunkering operation at Yangshan, Shanghai. The event involved the EPS-managed 15k TEU dual fuel vessel, CMA CGM Bali, receiving 9498m³ of LNG from the bunker vessel, Hai Gang Wei Lai managed by SIPG.

This milestone is particularly significant, considering EPS’s inaugural LNG bunkering operations in November 2020. Since then, the company has cumulatively received 404,958MT of LNG across its fleet of DF Vessels.

With a rich history spanning 60 years, EPS, headquartered in Singapore for the past 30 years, remains at the forefront of the shipping industry’s green and technology-driven growth. Committed to sustainability and accountability, EPS is dedicated to leading the energy transition in the industry by adopting cleaner alternatives to lower emissions.

The company’s mission revolves around being the safe and efficient transportation provider of choice, empowered by 6,000 skilled sea and shore staff overseeing a versatile fleet of 21 million deadweight-tonnes in containership, dry bulk, and tanker vessels. EPS’s integrated shore team encompasses various departments, including commercial, finance, innovation, IT, legal, manning, operations, and technical expertise.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering has become a pivotal practice within the maritime industry, marking a significant shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources for vessels. This innovative process involves the transfer of LNG, stored at extremely low temperatures, from a dedicated bunker vessel to a ship, offering a viable alternative to traditional marine fuels.

What sets LNG apart is its environmental benefits; it significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides when compared to conventional marine fuels. This environmental consciousness aligns with global efforts to mitigate the impact of carbon footprints in the maritime sector.

As industries worldwide increasingly prioritize sustainability, LNG bunkering has emerged as a practical and environmentally conscious solution. This is exemplified by Eastern Pacific Shipping’s recent milestone – the celebration of its 150th successful LNG bunkering operation at Yangshan, Shanghai. This achievement not only underscores the company’s steadfast commitment to cleaner alternatives but also signifies the industry’s collective journey towards a more sustainable and responsible maritime future.
