Tokyo, 25 June 2025 — In a move set to simplify compliance and accelerate decarbonisation efforts, maritime technology company ZeroNorth has announced the successful integration of its SMARTShip platform with the ClassNK MRV Portal. This strategic development allows for automated and secure submission of IMO DCS and EU MRV emissions data, significantly easing the regulatory burden for shipowners and operators.

Seamless Compliance through Digital Integration
The integration enables SMARTShip users to validate, approve, and directly upload emission reports to the ClassNK MRV Portal from within the platform itself. Once the reports are verified by authorized personnel, the system instantly transmits the data to ClassNK — a major step forward in digitising and automating maritime compliance workflows.
This innovation follows a successful trial across select vessels and is now fully available to all SMARTShip users globally.
“Collecting, reporting, and verifying emissions data is a complex and time-consuming challenge, increasing the risk of inaccuracies and compliance issues. Our integration with ClassNK creates a more automated, reliable compliance pathway — helping to reduce risk and unlock efficiency and profitability across the fleet,” Said Søren C. Meyer, CEO, ZeroNorth.
The collaboration not only enhances operational efficiency but also reinforces both organisations’ shared commitment to the maritime sector’s digital transformation and decarbonisation goals.
“We expect that this API integration will be more efficient for the clients. ClassNK will continue to contribute to maritime decarbonisation by fostering collaboration with stakeholders across the maritime industry,” Said Dr. Yoshiya Yamaguchi, Executive Vice President, ClassNK.
Looking Ahead: A Smarter, Cleaner Future for Maritime Compliance
This integration comes at a crucial time, as the maritime industry faces increasing regulatory pressure from both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union to reduce emissions and demonstrate transparent carbon accounting. By offering an automated link between fleet data and ClassNK’s reporting system, ZeroNorth and ClassNK are together paving the way for smarter, cleaner shipping operations.
For shipowners, charterers, and operators worldwide, this means a more streamlined path to compliance, efficiency, and sustainability — all delivered through digital innovation.
