Verdagy, a leading renewable hydrogen electrolysis company, has secured a significant milestone with Shell’s endorsement of its eDynamic® electrolyzers. This announcement comes after a thorough and successful year-long collaboration between the two entities, culminating in Shell’s technical validation of Verdagy’s technology.
Verdagy boasts over a decade of expertise in developing renewable hydrogen solutions, making it a key player in the transition towards sustainable energy. The endorsement from Shell positions Verdagy as a qualified supplier for Shell’s upcoming green hydrogen projects, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Andrew Beard, Vice President of Hydrogen at Shell, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Verdagy has developed dynamic and cost-competitive electrolyzers suitable for infrastructure-scale projects. We’re pleased with the outcomes of our evaluations and look forward to further collaboration with Verdagy.”
The endorsement follows a series of comprehensive reviews conducted by Shell, including a Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) assessment, as well as detailed Design and Technology Development Reviews of Verdagy’s electrolyzers. These evaluations focused on critical aspects such as safety, performance, and stability, confirming the viability of Verdagy’s technology for large-scale hydrogen production.
Marty Neese, CEO of Verdagy, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration’s results, stating, “The successful completion of this year-long collaboration underscores Verdagy’s commitment to delivering advanced electrolyzers for the renewable hydrogen industry. We anticipate increased industry uptake following Shell’s technology endorsement.”
Verdagy’s electrolyzers are designed to offer the lowest levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) by combining high current densities, wide operating ranges, and fast response times. This allows seamless integration with renewable power sources, facilitating the widespread adoption of green hydrogen.
Moreover, Verdagy is actively working towards achieving the U.S. Department of Energy’s goal of $2/kg of levelized cost for renewable hydrogen by 2026. The company recently secured a $39.6 million grant (pending negotiations) from the Department of Energy to accelerate the high-volume manufacturing of Advanced Alkaline Water Electrolysis eDynamic electrolyzers.
