TFG Marine proudly announces a significant advancement in its European operations. All UniBarge bunkering barges currently operating in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region are now equipped with ISO 22192 compliant mass flow meters. This certification exceeds existing and proposed marine fuel supply standards in Europe by adopting the stringent guidelines set by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). This ensures the most accurate and transparent marine fuel deliveries for shipping customers in the region.

TFG Marine aims to become the leading and most innovative marine fuel supplier globally, consistently raising the bar in modern bunkering operations at ports worldwide.

Kenneth Dam, Executive Director and Global Head of Bunkering at TFG Marine, remarked, “This is another strong signal of our commitment within TFG Marine to upgrade our logistics and improve the industry for the future of greener shipping. We strongly recommend European ports and industry stakeholders to adopt these advanced practices for a more efficient and sustainable future in shipping.”

Mass Flow Meters: Enhancing Transparency and Efficiency

Mass flow metering tracks trade details in real-time and is progressively being introduced across TFG Marine’s network to improve transactional transparency. TFG Marine is fitting SS648-compliant mass flow meters on its delivery barges across bunkering hubs and advocating for industry-wide adoption.

How Mass Flow Meters Work

Mass flow meters provide precise transaction data by eliminating discrepancies caused by the physical properties of fluids. Unlike traditional meters, which measure volume and estimate mass, mass flow meters measure the actual mass directly, unaffected by temperature and pressure changes. This leads to greater accuracy and fewer disputes between customers and suppliers.

Mass flow meters utilize vibration-based sensors and the Coriolis effect to measure the rate of flow of mass through a pipe, providing real-time data on flow, mass, density, viscosity, and temperature. Customers can review this data live, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

Clarity and Control

Precise mass flow measurement simplifies refueling and enhances integrity through certified calibration and tamper-proof seals. By working with the same marine fuel supply data, TFG Marine and its customers experience fewer disputes, enhanced traceability, better cost control, and decreased port delays. Accurate data also provides shipowners with better insight into consumption and more control over emissions.
