TankMatch, a leading barge operator specializing in the transportation of mineral oils and liquid chemicals, has teamed up with Evos, a premier independent liquid bulk storage provider, to introduce innovative methanol bunkering solutions across the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region. This strategic partnership represents a significant advancement in the maritime industry’s transition to more sustainable fuel options, particularly as methanol gains traction as a viable marine fuel alternative.
As the maritime sector moves towards greener fuels, the need for enhanced safety protocols and infrastructure adjustments becomes increasingly vital. Industry projections indicate that by 2028, over 300 methanol-capable vessels are expected to be operational, necessitating robust and efficient supply chains. In response to this pressing demand, TankMatch and Evos are combining their expertise to offer comprehensive, one-stop methanol bunkering solutions that streamline the supply process.
Unlocking New Capacity for Methanol Bunkering
To accommodate the anticipated rise in demand for methanol storage and bunkering services, Evos plans to expand its terminal capacity significantly. The expansion initiative will include the construction of five new storage tanks, each with a capacity of 13,500 m³, alongside a dedicated berth designed for rapid service delivery. This facility will allow customers to store various types of methanol with options for co-mingled or segregated storage based on quality and biogenic content.
The new berth will be able to accommodate bunker barges of up to 135 meters in length, with impressive pumping rates of up to 750 m³ per hour. This setup offers unparalleled speed and flexibility for high-volume customers, ensuring that methanol bunkering can meet the demands of an evolving maritime industry.
Marcel Jordens, Commercial Manager at TankMatch, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “The market was calling for a game-changing solution to integrate storage and bunkering, and we listened. By teaming up with Evos, we’re offering a truly comprehensive service. With Evos’ central Rotterdam location, our fleet can easily reach all corners of the ARA region in under 10 hours, enabling fast and flexible bunkering in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp.”
Johannes Veldt, Commercial Manager at Evos Rotterdam, echoed this sentiment: “This partnership is all about delivering smart, sustainable solutions for the future. Together, we’re making green methanol bunkering easier and more accessible than ever, and we’re proud to play a key role in supporting the maritime industry’s shift towards cleaner energy.”
Together, TankMatch and Evos are poised to lead the way in green methanol bunkering solutions, ensuring that the maritime industry can navigate its path towards sustainability effectively and efficiently.
