Seaspan Energy has announced the launch of its third 7600m3 LNG bunkering vessel, the Seaspan Baker, named after Mount Baker, also known as Koma Kulshan, in Washington State.

The Seaspan Baker joins its counterparts, the Seaspan Garibaldi (Nch’ḵay̓) and the Seaspan Lions (Ch’ich’iyúy Elxwíkn), with deliveries scheduled later this year and in 2025, respectively.

The Seaspan Baker is tailored to serve the Long Beach container ship market, complementing the Seaspan Lions in providing LNG fueling services on the West Coast of North America. Meanwhile, the Seaspan Garibaldi is poised to offer low-carbon solutions globally, based in the Panama region.

Each vessel in this series measures 112.8 meters in length, 18.6 meters in width, with a draft of 5 meters and a design speed of 13 knots. Constructed by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE), renowned for its small-scale gas carrier expertise, these vessels mark a milestone in LNG bunkering capabilities.

Collaborating with VARD Marine Inc., Seaspan integrated cutting-edge technologies into the design, focusing on emissions reduction and minimizing underwater noise. The vessels are optimized for safe, efficient, and economical refueling operations across various ship types and terminal configurations, including ship-to-ship transfers and coastal cargo operations.

Seaspan Marine Transportation, a prominent Canadian maritime group, spearheads ship assist, coastal and deep-sea transportation, ferry services, and fuel bunkering along the North American West Coast.
