Seaside LNG, a leading provider of LNG production, LNG bunkering, and maritime transportation logistics, recently completed the successful first LNG bunkering for the Sun Princess at Port Everglades. This milestone marks a significant achievement for Seaside LNG and is a pivotal moment for Carnival Corporation and Princess Cruises, as they continue their efforts toward a cleaner and more sustainable future in the cruise industry.
The bunkering operation was conducted using Seaside LNG’s advanced Articulated Tug and Barge Unit (ATB), the Clean Everglades, with a capacity of 5,500 cubic meters. The smooth and efficient execution of this operation highlights the importance of collaboration between maritime partners and community stakeholders. This successful bunkering underscores the commitment of Seaside LNG, Carnival Corporation, and Princess Cruises to decarbonizing maritime travel and advancing sustainable practices across the global cruise industry.
“Seaside LNG would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to its valued partners—Shell, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Port Everglades Port Authority—for their firm support and expertise. Special recognition also goes to TOTE Services for their operational excellence, which was key to ensuring the seamless execution of this historic bunkering operation.” Shared Seaside LNG.
With over 600 successful LNG bunkering operations to date, Seaside LNG continues to lead the charge in supporting the cruise industry’s transition to a more sustainable future. This milestone further cements Seaside LNG’s position as a pioneer in LNG bunkering, with plans to continue expanding its network and fleet of Jones Act-compliant LNG barges.
Stuart Carpenter, Senior Director of LNG Implementation at Carnival Corporation, expressed his pride in the achievement: “We mark another milestone for Carnival Corporation and Princess Cruises with the successful first LNG bunkering to the Sun Princess at Port Everglades. This achievement underscores our commitment to safely decarbonizing maritime travel and advancing sustainability. A huge thank you to our partners, Shell, Seaside LNG, and TOTE Services for their collaboration, as well as the critical support from our colleagues at the U.S. Coast Guard. Together, we are paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future in cruising.”
