Rolls-Royce Power Systems has signed a 2026–2029 framework contract with Italian builder Overmarine to supply 64 mtu Series 2000 engines. The milestone deal marks the commercial debut of the fully integrated mtu NautIQ Bridge system on the Mangusta Oceano 52 yacht series, unifying control, energy management, and propulsion from a single source.
Friedrichshafen | June 23, 2026 – Rolls-Royce Power Systems has finalized a major multi-year framework agreement with elite Italian shipyard Overmarine, significantly expanding their long-standing industrial partnership. Running from 2026 through 2029, the sweeping contract includes the supply of 64 high-speed mtu marine engines and marks a critical commercial milestone: the first-ever integration of Rolls-Royce’s proprietary mtu NautIQ Bridge systems onto Overmarine vessels.
The transaction strengthens Rolls-Royce’s position in the premium global superyacht segment while putting its holistic “From Bridge to Propeller” design strategy into active practice.
Technical Scope: High-Speed Propulsion Meets Digital Control
Under the new 2026–2029 framework, Rolls-Royce will supply 30 complete propulsion packages comprising a total of 64 mtu Series 2000 engines. The order consists of highly reliable 12-cylinder (12V 2000) and 16-cylinder (16V 2000) configurations, notably including two specialized propulsion setups utilizing four engines simultaneously.
Crucially, the contract expands beyond pure iron. Overmarine’s high-end Mangusta Oceano 52 yacht line will now feature the mtu NautIQ Bridge. This product provides an intuitive digital control environment that integrates the vessel’s bridge, auxiliary energy management, and main propulsion systems into a single unified architecture.

Reducing Interface Risks: The ‘Bridge to Propeller’ Strategy
For modern shipyards, managing disparate marine automation, engine telemetry, and navigation software from different sub-vendors often introduces severe technical interface risks during the build phase.
By delivering a pre-engineered, single-source solution, Rolls-Royce aims to eliminate these technical friction points. Gianluca Bononi, Managing Director at Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Italy, explained the system’s operational philosophy:
