The Role: Supply Trader — Singapore
As a Supply Trader in the Singapore office, you will be crucial to delivering P&L in the Asia-Pacific supply markets. This role involves maintaining a focus on profitable and longstanding relationships with suppliers and managing all transactions within a strict risk-aware framework.
Department: Supply & Trading Location: Singapore (Onsite)
The Supply team is expected to:
- Generate competitive supply solutions.
- Coordinate a robust demand generation process alongside the Sales and Market Intelligence teams.
- Comply strictly with the controlling framework set by the company (DOA, CRM, PTA, claims handling, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and build relationships with new and existing suppliers to increase the strike rate and margin on business within the region.
- Trading Strategy: Follow market fundamentals and local cargo index movements to identify opportunities for competitive advantage. Work with the Regional Head to develop and implement effective short and long-term trading strategies.
- Internal Collaboration: Openly communicate with other traders and use MINT (Market Intelligence) to generate leads for Sales teams, ensuring the efficient flow of market and customer intelligence.
- Inquiry Management: Actively and diligently work inbound enquiries from other regional offices within the Peninsula Petroleum Group.
- Market Analysis & Negotiation: Understand, analyse, and interpret market conditions, negotiate deals, and handle general customer queries relating to the sales process.
- Risk Control: Proactively control risks, ensuring all suppliers are vetted and approved, costs of claims are minimised, and counterparty financial strength is regularly considered in conjunction with the Supplier Credit Team.
- Market Knowledge: Keep abreast of all relevant shipping and oil sector developments through regular reading of trade publications.
Candidate Profile
This role would suit someone with previous experience in Trading, ideally within the bunker sector.
