Trading Manager – Marine Fuels Key Responsibilities

Trading Operations Management:

  • Execute trades in marine fuels, including bunker fuel, marine gas oil (MGO), and other related products.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, price fluctuations, and supply-demand dynamics.
  • Ensure all trading activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.

Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement strategic trading plans that maximize profitability.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and leverage them to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Conduct regular market analysis, providing senior management with strategic insights to inform business decisions.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate terms of trades to ensure favorable outcomes, securing the best possible deals.
  • Offer exceptional customer service, promptly addressing any client inquiries, concerns, or issues.

Risk Management:

  • Proactively manage exposure to market risks, including price volatility and credit risk.
  • Develop and apply effective risk management strategies, including hedging practices when necessary.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on trading activities, market risks, and conditions for internal review.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Work closely with logistics, finance, and operations teams to guarantee smooth execution of trades.
  • Optimize supply chain processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of trades, minimizing discrepancies and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Maritime Studies, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 – 10 years of experience in marine fuel trading or a related industry. A proven track record of success in trading and strategy development is required.
  • Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the marine fuel market, including product types, pricing structures, and relevant regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills to assess market data and trends.
  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, with the capacity to forge long-lasting partnerships.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with trading platforms and software tools used in the industry.
  • Decision-Making: The ability to work well under pressure, make quick, informed decisions, and manage multiple priorities.
