LEAG and HH2E are jointly building a green hydrogen economy in Germany.

LEAG wants to become one of the largest green electricity producers in Germany by 2030 with the GigawattFactory, which is backed by PV and wind turbines with a total capacity of seven gigawatts. In order to make renewable electricity available safely and regardless of the weather, the company is planning to build new H2-ready power plants at its power plant sites in Jänschwalde, Schwarze Pumpe, Boxberg and Lippendorf.

HH2E is a new green energy company in Germany founded to bring about immediate change. It plans to install 4 GW of electrolysis capacity in Germany by 2030. HH2E’s technology mix can convert a variable feed-in of solar or wind energy into a constant flow of green hydrogen, heat and carbon-free electricity at competitive prices to power local industries and communities.

“We are very pleased to develop the cooperation opportunities together with HH2E, as this is a further step in our hydrogen strategy and will help us to shape the structural change in our areas and create future-proof jobs for our employees,”

said Dr. Philipp Nellessen, LEAG Board Member for Production, after signing the letter of intent.

“The availability of green energy is one of the main reasons for companies and businesses to settle here. The production of green hydrogen can become an economic catalyst in any region, attracting many industries and companies. We at HH2E are very pleased about the agreement with LEAG, because the joint project development accelerates the energy transition and maximizes economic development at the same time,”

says Andreas Schierenbeck, co-founder and CEO of HH2E AG.
