Famoil, based in Peru and renowned for its expertise in marine fuels, continues to elevate its biofuels portfolio in collaboration with Monjasa, ranked among the top 10 marine fuels companies globally.
Following the historic delivery of 510 MT of Biofuel blend B30 to the vessel ‘Infinity Sky’ on February 22, 2024, (the first-ever Biofuel bunker supply in Peru’s history), another milestone was achieved on July 7. The supply barge, Great Tiger, efficiently delivered 807 MT of Biofuel B30 to the vessel ‘Pacific Nexus’ at the bustling Port of Callao.
Famoil expresses profound gratitude to Monjasa for their pivotal role in championing this groundbreaking eco-conscious initiative in Callao.
This operation marks the beginning of a continuous ISCC-certified biofuels bunker supply in South America and establishes robust 2nd generation marine biofuels supply chain. The collaboration between Famoil and Monjasa sets a new industry standard for collaborative efforts in green shipping initiatives.
Peru’s First-ever Biofuel Bunker supply in February 2024
The adoption of biofuels in bunkering presents ship owners with a substantial advantage by enabling them to slash greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions without necessitating additional investments in equipment or technology. ISCC certification guarantees that our biofuels meet rigorous sustainability standards, providing a dependable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional marine fuels. This initiative aligns with the IMO’s ambitious goal to achieve a 40% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 (compared to 2008 levels), thus fostering a cleaner and more sustainable maritime sector.
As the bunker industry undergoes transformative changes, we anticipate a burgeoning demand for biofuels as shipping companies proactively secure supplies to meet impending IMO GHG reduction targets.
