KPI OceanConnect, one of the world’s largest bunker trading companies, has announced that Dorthe Bendtsen will assume the role of interim CEO, effective 1st December 2024. This leadership change follows the transition of former CEO Anders Grønborg to Chief Commercial Officer at the company’s parent organization, Bunker Holding.
With nearly 150 employees across 15 global offices, KPI OceanConnect plays a pivotal role in the marine fuel industry, delivering approximately 12 million tonnes of fuel annually. As interim CEO, Bendtsen will work alongside the executive management team and regional leads to continue the company’s strategic focus on growth, high-quality customer service, and stakeholder satisfaction. The company is also set to begin its search for a permanent CEO.
Bendtsen, who is currently KPI OceanConnect’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), brings over 16 years of experience within the organization. Throughout her tenure, she has been a key figure in the company’s growth, contributing significantly to its strategy development and execution, particularly in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening KPI OceanConnect’s operational framework, while also ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to its global customer base.
As COO, Bendtsen was responsible for optimizing operations and fostering stronger relationships with key stakeholders, all while enhancing the company’s corporate governance structures. She has been particularly focused on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, driving the company’s efforts towards a more inclusive and competence-driven organizational culture. Her work in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has played a critical role in aligning KPI OceanConnect’s values with a forward-thinking and responsible approach to business.
Bendtsen holds a Master’s degree in Management and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Economics. She is also a Chartered Governance Professional, further underscoring her expertise in corporate governance and leadership.
KPI OceanConnect remains dedicated to continuing its mission of providing high-quality marine fuel services while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. As the company navigates this leadership transition, Bendtsen’s leadership will be key in ensuring that its strategic goals and operational excellence continue to thrive.
