In a significant stride towards maritime sustainability, ClassNK, the renowned ship classification society, has awarded its groundbreaking Shipboard Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage-Full (SCCS-Full) class notation to EVER TOP, a Neopanamax container vessel belonging to EVERGREEN. This certification heralds a historic moment as EVER TOP becomes the world’s pioneer Neopanamax container vessel to be retrofitted with onboard CO2 capture and storage (CCS) systems.
The CCS systems installed on EVER TOP were meticulously designed and developed by the Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute and expertly fitted at Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., Ltd. (HRDD). ClassNK played a pivotal role in this process, conducting rigorous reviews of system components and installation plans in accordance with its comprehensive “Guidelines for Shipboard CO2 Capture and Storage Systems.”
The assessment encompassed thorough risk evaluations via Hazard Identification (HAZID) and meticulous scrutiny of the onsite installation process. Following meticulous verification of compliance with all pertinent requirements, the prestigious SCCS-Full notation was formally conferred upon the vessel.
