Santiago-based Copec S.A., Chile leading energy company, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful import of its inaugural 7,000 MT batch of RMG380 VLSFO (Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil). This batch was delivered through alije to COPEC’s two tankers, Don Pancho II and Doña Ana, at the port of Talcahuano.
Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) is essential for meeting the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) regulations aimed at reducing sulfur emissions from ships. With a maximum sulfur content of 0.50%, VLSFO helps minimize the environmental impact of maritime operations while ensuring compliance with global standards. COPEC’s commitment to providing VLSFO underscores its dedication to sustainable bunkering practices and supports the global shift towards greener shipping solutions.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Chilean Empresas Copec and part of the AntarChile conglomerate, COPEC S.A. continues to demonstrate leadership and innovation in the energy sector. This accomplishment highlights the company’s role in advancing industry standards.
Eduardo Pi Escobar, Bunker Manager at COPEC S.A., remarked, “This achievement marks a pivotal moment in our operations. The successful import and delivery of RMG380 VLSFO fuel not only showcase our operational flexibility but also reinforce our commitment to providing secure and competitive fuel supplies. This milestone is a testament to our dedication to enhancing the shipping sector and meeting the needs of our clients.”
